Uniview Tri-Guard IP Cameras combine Active Deterrence and Analytics

Uniview Tri-Guard IP Cameras combine Active Deterrence and Analytics

Why do I need Tri-Guard Cameras?

Uniview Tri-Guard IP Cameras combine Active Deterrence and Analytics to deliver a solution that focuses on prevention. In the traditional security industry, your conventional IP cameras can face some unique challenges. Most surveillance systems are good at documenting occurrences and providing you with evidence. Also, the majority of todays newer systems provide some sort of notifications of events but not very accurately. In fact, some people get so many false alerts that they just stop looking at them. False alarms can be caused by birds, leaves, dogs and numerous other things that are not a threat to your property.

Image Capture at Night

In addition, you may already know that a majority of security cameras, whether they are IP or HD use IR Illuminators to produce Black and White Images at night. Some of these are pretty detailed but none will provide the detail you will see in a full color image. The Tri-Guard series of IP Cameras from Uniview addresses these issues to provide you with a much more proactive solution to perimeter and property protection.

Tri-Guard Solutions

So we talked about your alerts and recorded video being good for documentation. However, what if your system could let you know before something happens, and allow you to interact to stop it? We also covered false alarms. If you have ever experienced this, you know what a benefit it would be to eliminate the false ones and deliver only useable alerts. So what if you could identify an issue accurately, interact with it before there is an issue, and see the images in detailed Full Color even in the darkest night? Well, now you can!

The Tri-Guard Cameras combine Advanced Analytics (SIP), Active Deterrence and Colorhunter to prevent crimes, especially at night.

Smart Intrusion prevention (SIP) Advanced Analytics

Smart intrusion prevention significantly reduces false alarm caused by leaves, birds and lights and other incidentals. Your alerts are more accurately focused and triggered by actual events such as  human and vehicle entry into the scene.  Therefore, false alarms are greatly reduced. In addition, you are also able to set up perimeters and Line Crossing. That means you can quickly determine if the alert involves a threat before they get too far onto your property.

Active Deterrence

The Active Deterrence Function is activated once a subject is in view. Based on your pre-set conditions, the strobe light will come on and a sound warning will be played. There are several pre-programmed audio warnings, but you can also create your own. The built in Mic and Speaker are activated and you can talk through the camera if needed. There are three different Active Modes: IR Mode displays the scene in Black and White (at night but color in the day) Warm Light Mode keeps the scene illuminated and therefore in full color and Dual Light Mode which can stay in Black and White if nothing is happening and automatically switch to flashing light and alarm if a stranger enters the scene.

Colorhunter

As we touched on in the above paragraph, Colorhunter Technology consists of a built in Light that floods an area with light. Lets face it, Color images are much more detailed and forensically valuable than Black and White images. Uniview Tri-Guard Cameras employ a warm light integrated into the camera for better, more accurate footage. Keep in mind that the light itself can aide in prevention.

Smart LED: automatic intensity adjustment prevents overexposure
Two Warm LEDs: further complementary light distance and performance
Friendly Lighting: ColorHunter IP camera use warm LEDs that are friendly to human eyes

The combination of lighting modes make these cameras extremely flexible and adaptable to multiple environments.

How to use a Uniview DVR (XVR) as an Encoder for Analog Cameras

How to use a Uniview DVR as an Encoder

In this post we will discuss how to use a Uniview DVR as an Encoder for BNC/Analog cameras. As an Integrator or a Security System manager, many of you have run into a situation where a client has existing Analog (Coax) Cameras but wants to upgrade to IP. Of course, they may also want to use most or all their existing analog cameras along with the newer IP Cameras.

Since having two separate surveillance systems, with two separate logins can seem like a cumbersome proposition to your client, you probably have looked into using Video Encoders. If you have investigated the use of Video Encoders in this situation, then you have undoubtedly realized how expensive they are. In fact, in many cases, they make using legacy analog cameras and cabling almost cost prohibitive. In addition, the more cameras that need to be converted, the more expensive it gets.

Here is a different option for you.

For the sake of clarity, we will look at the following example. Let’s say your client has a 16 Channel DVR with 16 Analog or HD Analog BNC Cameras. Those cameras are connected to the DVR using coax cables and may include several difficult runs. Your client wants to upgrade to IP Cameras and needs to add up to 16 IP Cameras to fully cover their facility. You can use a Uniview 16 Channel XVR in conjunction with a Uniview 32 Channel NVR to accomplish this.

Cost Savings using a Uniview DVR as an Encoder:

A Uniview XVR at around $300.00 or less, is far less than current Encoder Options. In fact, using encoders for a 16-camera application would run anywhere from $1,000.00 to $2,000.00. In addition, you will generally spend less time implementing a Uniview XVR in conjunction with a Uniview NVR, thus saving labor costs. If your client has more than 16 Analog Cameras, you can even use (2) 16 Channel UNV XVRs and a 64 Channel UNV NVR. Keep in mind, for these scenarios, both the XVR and NVR must be Uniview. An additional benefit is that the Analog cameras will have recording redundancy since the DVR is still recording as normal.

How it works:

  1. Add Coax Analog Cameras to your XVR
  2. Set XVR up on Network
  3. Set NVR up on Network
  4. Add IP Cameras to PoE/NVR
  5. Add in Analog camera from XVR to NVR using EZStation

This scenario will make your client grateful and also make them more likely to use your services as they continue to upgrade or expand. Since all of their cameras are centralized on the NVR, they will have a streamlined application and ease of operation. Also, all of the cameras will be recording on their respective NVR channels, both IP and Analog. This scenario can be used with larger applications as well by using multiple XVRs.

Uniview Colorhunter IP Cameras for Color Images 24 Hours a Day

Uniview Colorhunter IP Cameras

What are Uniview Colorhunter IP Cameras? Uniview Colorhunter Technology employs white light LEDs in order to deliver Color Images 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Therefore, surveillance footage has a higher forensic quality and detail regardless of lighting conditions.

If you have any experience with Security Cameras, you are probably familiar with how most night vision cameras switch to Black and White in low light levels or darkness. Many of these cameras have improved night time images dramatically. Technology such as Starlight have improved the duration for a camera staying in color. Uniview Lighthunter Cameras are among the strongest example of delivering color images in extremely low light levels. But now, Uniview has taken that to the next level.

ColorHunter delivers Color Images 24/7

Color Images for higher Forensic Quality

Let’s face it, we all know that color images provide the best detail, and thus the most forensic quality surveillance. So what if your camera could stay in color in even complete darkness? In critical surveillance applications, details can make all the difference. Having color images 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, regardless of light levels would be a great advantage for security personnel and business owners. Well the good news is that Uniview has made this possible.

Uniview Colorhunter cameras use Warm Light LEDs that illuminate a scene and record images as if it were the middle of the day. This allows your cameras to deliver more critical information for evidence collection, even in Ølux environments. In addition, these cameras use a larger F1.0 IRIS for 2.5X more light than common F1.6 versions. A larger Iris lets more light into the lens. Built In Auto Brightness adjusts to Motion and Subject in the scene for even more adaptability. Unlike many competitors, Uniview technology eliminates ghosting and blur so images are clear even with a moving subject.

16:9 Aspect Ratio:

But Uniview doesn’t stop there either. The aspect ratio for the Colorhunter Cameras is a 16:9 with Full [email protected]×1620. If you are familiar with aspect ratio in CCTV or IP Surveillance then you have probably experienced other types of AR’s. When using a 5MP Camera, you have probably had to work with a 4:3 ratio which is fairly common. In fact, many security camera buyers use 4MP cameras in order to get the wider image. UNVs Colorhunter 5MP Cameras use the wider 16:9 ratio as referenced below.

A Plethora of Advanced Features:

The new Colorhunter IP Cameras from Uniview are feature rich and powerful. If you like your tech with lots of upside, then you will love these cameras. More importantly, your customers will love them even more! Additional features such as Smart Intrusion Protection and True WDR come standard. The IPC2225SE-DF40K-WL Colorhunter Bullet Camera is IP67 and IK10 Vandalproof. The IPC3615SE-ADF28KM-WL-IO Colorhunter Dome has a built in Microphone and is also IP67 Weatherproof. Both models include a built in ‘Corridor Mode’ for picture correction in applications like hallways, as well as the features below:

Lighting designed for surveillance:

It is not enough to just illuminate an area. Proper exposure requires many factors working together in order to deliver  detailed surveillance images. ColorHunter IP Cameras use warm light LED’s in order to maintain more accurate color representation and avoid color distortion. In addition, Smart LEDs automatically adjust their intensity to avoid overexposure.

Built to withstand the toughest environments:

UNV ColorHunter Cameras are designed with metal housings in order to withstand adverse weather and difficult environments. In fact, the IPC2225SE Bullet Camera is rated IK10 Vandal resistant. What is IK10, you ask? Only the highest rating for impact resistance available in a Security Camera. Both models are IP67 weatherproof as well.

Colorhunter Cameras have Built In Smart Functions:

Smart Intrusion Protection is built in to the Cameras including Line Crossing Detection. The camera can detect the difference between a person, vehicle or animal, in order to give you the proper notification. As a result, false alarms are drastically reduced. You can set up notifications for persons entering or leaving an area as well.

Use and Application for Uniview Colorhunter IP Cameras:

The possibilities are pretty much left to your imagination. Deploying a Camera that delivers Color Images Day or Night certainly has numerous advantages. If you manage a large surveillance network, you probably have areas where standard night vision is just not doing the job. Step up your application with ColorHunter Cameras from Unviview!

Uniview LightHunter IP Cameras see Color in the Dark

Lighthunter IP Cameras see color in Ultra Low Light

See Color in the Dark

The main goal of video surveillance is to see clearly anytime and anywhere. Security Cameras need to be well prepared to provide high-resolution, and color images, in a multitude of different lighting conditions. The LightHunter Technology is an innovative technology that delivers vivid color, appropriate brightness, and extremely clear images in ultra-low light. LightHunter Technology significantly improves the image brightness with an F1.2 Large Iris design and a BSI sensor. With the specially designed, large size sensors, the IP Cameras have higher photosensitivity, and feature high SNR.

UNV’s uniquely patented technology called U-ISP,  improves the definition and brightness of images. U-ISP technology features a new generation of noise reduction to improve Signal-Noise Ratio and reduce blur. It effectively reduces blur with moving objects, which ensures that the image is captured more like the true scene. With the combined hardware and software advantages, LightHunter Technology guarantees extraordinary images, full of color, even under ultra-low light.

Low Light Challenges for Security Cameras

Indoor Scenes and Challenges

Installing Security Cameras in certain venues with complex lighting creates unique challenges. If you have ever installed a Security Camera System in a business that operates in Low Light, you may have noticed that the Cameras are always in Black and White (IR Mode). Since color images are more detailed and accurate, this is an issue. LightHunter Technology solves this problem. Therefore, your clients are much more satisfied with the finished product. Color images provide much more forensic detail, which provides end users with a more usable surveillance image. A typical example of this would be a Bar or Restaurant that operates in lower light levels.

Outdoor Scenes and Challenges

Many outdoor scenes create unique challenges as well. If you are covering an area with limited ambient lighting, then you need a camera with the capabilities of a LightHunter Camera. This is especially true for high security areas. Have you ever tried to identify a person or object from an image of a camera in IR Mode? If so, then you are familiar with the challenge. Is your subject moving? What is that item they are carrying? Obviously, it is much easier to extract these details from a color image. In addition, IR Mode images can produce other issues such as blur or noise. LightHunter employs U-ISP technology to reduce the issues associated with other Low Light Imaging Technology.

In low-light environments, standard IR technology can achieve high-resolution, while it may lose color information and the images are black and white. The Lighthunter technology provides superior color-related information unable to be achieved with conventional cameras. More effective information about vehicles and suspects, such as the plate number, color, and brand of a vehicle; facial features, hair color, height and clothing color of a suspect may be usefully offered to law enforcement or other people in need.

Committed to solving this problem, UNV has devoted significant resources to the research and development of this new ultra-low light technology. Now, LightHunter technology is available and provides unmatched detail, brightness, and realistic color, along with clear images in the ultra-low light.

More about the LightHunter Solution

BSI Sensor and High Transmittance Lens

The BSI Sony Sensor improves light utilization many times that of ordinary sensors. In addition, Lighthunter employs a High Transmittance Lens for LUX Levels of 0.0005.

LightHunter U-ISP Technology

In addition, the UNV new-generation algorithm (U-ISP) has many advantages, such as reducing blur and noise, and increasing sharpness. All of these advantages improve the definition and brightness of images. As shown in the following figure, a criminal is stealing a wallet from the car. The normal IPC’s image is full of snowflakes. The most obvious difference compared to the normal IPC’s image, is that we see clearer and more colorful images and obtain more detailed information by the LightHunter IPC. The detailed information, such as facial features, clothing color, and plate number is easily identifiable by law enforcement.

Uniview Building Surveillance Solutions for Large Facilities

Uniview Building Surveillance Solutions for managing Large Buildings and Facilities:

Large Buildings are a venue for social and business activities such as office work, economic, production, as well as cultural and entertainment activities. A comprehensive and sophisticated building surveillance solution should take the specific social activities and human traffic behavior into consideration. The best surveillance solution will protect the privacy of individuals, while still being able to cover all critical areas without any blind spots.

Types of Building Surveillance Solutions

Building surveillance solutions can be divided into multiple types of applications, each with their own unique challenges. hotels, office buildings, hospitals, residential buildings and so on. Examples include:

  • Office Buildings
  • Hospitals
  • Residential Buildings
  • Hotels
  • Stadiums
  • Goverment Buildings
  • And More

Uniview has been dedicated to the commercial surveillance industry for many years. In fact, UNV was a pioneer in IP Video Surveillance and has since developed numerous advanced technologies for commercial surveillance applications. Because of this, UNV has accumulated vast experience and knowledge on varied building scenes and solutions. In addition, they have presented multiple comprehensive building surveillance solutions which have been applied to all types of facilities. Since every surveillance application can present unique challenges, Uniview has developed scalable solutions for major installations around the globe.

General Breakdown of Uniview Building Surveillance Solutions include:

Lobby Area

The Lobby Area is the main area for entrance and exit from the building. It is also a key area where staff and personnel interact with visitors, and is likely your busiest area. In order to monitor your lobby area clearly, cameras must be able to adapt to varying lighting conditions and scenes.

WDR (Wide Dynamic Range)

Uniview True WDR cameras, combine Sony STARVIS sensor technology with their self-developed ISP processing technology, to fully utilize sensor’s potential and imaging performance. This combination delivers clear and visible images under high contrast lighting conditions. It is particularly ideal for entrances and exits. You can see in the image below how a complex scene is rendered with even exposure over light and dark areas. Therefore, greater detail is achieved for the entire scene. Alternatively, facial detail can be rendered much more clearly even in bright backlighting.

WDR OFF  —->  WDR ON

WDR

4K fisheye

4K fisheye cameras are ideal for sites with high floor height, or wide areas such as a lobby. The UNV 4K fisheye fixed domes support ceiling, wall and desktop mounting options so you can deploy them in virtually any situation. The cameras provide up to 16 kinds of de-warping modes for viewing your video. The Panoramic view (shown below) can cover an extremely wide area for overall coverage. IPC868ER-VF18B Uniview 4K Panoramic IP Camera

Public and Interior

Surveillance for Public and Interior areas of a building can vary greatly, as well. Areas that are accessible to the public such as Canteens, Workout Rooms and Corridors have different needs than other interior areas. You wouldn’t use the same camera in a large gym as you would use in a hallway, for instance. Other Interior Surveillance applications may include areas like offices, file rooms and storage areas. Therefore, a comprehensive and sophisticated building surveillance solution needs to adapt to multiple environments.  Uniview Building Surveillance Solutions deliver the options needed for a complete installation.

Privacy Mask

In order to better protect privacy, a privacy mask area can be configured for monitoring an area on certain scenarios. An example would include the numeric keypad of an ATM machine. When a PTZ dome camera changes the position or zooms, the privacy mask will be adjusted accordingly to protect the area.
One single monitoring image can display up to 8 privacy masks. Certain models of UNV cameras support to configure up to 24 privacy masks.

Smart IR

Smart IR is an intelligent, IR adaptive control technology. This technology can balance the luminance level between distant and nearby areas, so that the cameras are able to provide consistent clear image under low Lux scenes. If you look at the images below, you will see that the most important details are captured with the Smart IR Function.

With Smart IR ON

With Smart IR Off

Certainly, IR Illumination (also referred to as Night Vision) can play an even bigger factor in outdoor use. You can choose from numerous models of UNV cameras with LED Infrared Night Vision. Some Bullet Style Camera Models enable the IR illumination to reach up to 200m (656ft). Also, we have UNV PTZ dome cameras with IR illumination up to 250m (820ft), and the UNV Laser IR PTZ dome cameras can even reach up to 1000m (3000ft).

Uniview IP cameras can satisfy different illumination requirements of almost any building scenario. We have listed some popular models below:

UNV IPC6858SR-X38UP-VC

IPC6858SR-X38UP-VC   UNV 4K Starlight IP PTZ with 38X Zoom, 820 Feet Nightvision

IPC6222ER-X30P-B

IPC6222ER-X30P-B   UNV 2MP IP PTZ with 30X Zoom, 492 Feet Night Vision

IPC2328SBR5-DPZ   UNV 4K IP Bullet Camera with Motorized Zoom, 164 Feet Night Vision

IPC7622EL-X55UG   Lighthunter Network Positioning System with 55X Zoom, 3000 Feet Laser Night Vision

Corridor Mode

There is a great waste of image area on the conventional 16:9 display format when used in long and narrow areas. The UNV Corridor Mode helps to effectively reduce unusable monitoring regions and shows more details in the important monitoring area. You really don’t need to monitor the walls but what is in between them. (I think that is a famous quote from someone) In addition, both UNV NVRs and the EZVMS support live view and playback display in corridor mode.

Here is an example of a camera in a hallway without the corridor mode in use.

Here is the same area but with corridor mode ON. You will notice that the image captures almost 2X the usable information in the hallway. Corridor Mode is an incredibly useful feature available in Uniview IP Cameras and Devices.

Wide Angle Lens for Small Offices or Rooms

In order to cover a small office or store room, lets say for example a 12 x 12 room, a standard fixed 4mm Lens will not work. Here is an example of an application that would require a Wide Angle Lens. Specifically, a 2.8mm Lens is preferable. Uniview Fixed Dome Cameras such as the IPC3618SR3-DPF28M can be mounted in the corner of a room and will be able to cover the entire room.

Parking Lot and Perimeter

Uniview PTZ Cameras are able to actively cover large areas such as parking lots. A key element to Uniview Business Surveillance Solutions is active surveillance. Since the camera allows motorized Pan, Tilt and Zoom, security personnel can actively zoom in to any area of concern over a wide area of coverage. For instance, if while viewing a parking area, you notice a person or vehicle that does not belong, you can use the PTZ to investigate up close. In addition, you can preset positions and set automatic guard patrol scans. Many of our Uniview PTZs are able to do Motion Tracking as well. IP PTZ Cameras are able to perform automatic functions, Zoom In and Zoom Out, as well as Panning up/down and right/left. Therefore you can use these cameras to protect parking areas ensuring the safety and security of people and vehicles.

4K Camera

UNV 4K cameras can provide clear and abundant details in monitoring areas with excellent high resolution performance. Super High Resolution Cameras such as 4K, can be especially beneficial when covering large areas or great distances. Footage taken with these cameras is significantly more usable since the recorded image can be zoomed into digitally without losing much detail.

High Ratio Optical Zoom

Outdoor PTZ dome cameras can reach up to 38x or 44x optical zoom. They are ideal for large parking lots, large open warehouses, common community areas and stadiums. Optical Zoom is an actual physical zoom by the cameras lens. If you have a large parking or gathering area to cover, check out these high performance PTZ and Multi Sensor Cameras.

Perimeter Protection for Uniview Building Surveillance Solutions

UNV Cameras are suitable for harsh environments and difficult conditions. Most UNV IP Cameras are rated IP67 for ingress protection and many are IK10 Vandal Proof. Is your surveillance application subject to extreme weather conditions? No problem, Uniview Cameras have extreme temperature range tolerance from -40°F to +158°F, depending on model. If you have cameras deployed in areas that are subject to vandalism, check out our IK10 rated Cameras. IK10 is the highest standard for Vandal and Impact resistance available.

Starlight Technology for Low Light Applications:

The Starlight function allows the camera to delivery color images in extremely dark environments. Color images provide better forensic detail when reviewing incidents. If you have ever installed or monitored a surveillance system that uses cameras in low light environments, then you are familiar with this scenario.  When the lights go down, standard night vision cameras will automatically switch to Black and White (IR Mode).  This puts you at a disadvantage because color is an important detail in video surveillance. With Uniview Starlight Cameras, images stay in color down to extremely low light levels, and Super Starlight even lower. Use UNV Starlight Cameras to up your surveillance game in areas where low or insufficient lighting available.

System Stability & Data Safety

UNV devices deliver consistent monitoring and recording because they are designed with numerous advanced functions. These features prevent data loss from unforeseen device errors, in addition to protecting the customers’ privacy.

  1. System Stability

  • During the period of Auto Network Recovery (ANR). UNV cameras can automatically store video recordings into the camera’s SD card. Once the network is restored, it will automatically send video recordings back to storage server. Therefore, building managers will not lose any important video recording even if the network fails temporarily. If you are responsible for the Security Management of your Building, you can greatly appreciate this function.

ANR

Multiple RAID (Redundant Arrays of Independent Disks) Modes (RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60) are built into UNV NVRs and storage servers for better data reliability and higher data safety.

Certain UNV NVRs and UNV Unicorn are deployed with Redundant Power Supply to ensure continuous services when power supply fail-over occurs.

UNV NVRs are deployed with N+1 hot backup capability. In the same networking system, if any active NVR is out of service, the Standby NVR will automatically take over. Again, if you have managed, or currently manage a large system, you know that redundancy is key.

Learn More about the Unicorn Video Management Server Here

Hot Spare Capability

If you are concerned about redundancy, the UNV Unicorn can be deployed with a Hot Spare capability. If the Master Unicorn fails, the standby Unicorn will take over service immediately. All service and data will transfer back to Master Unicorn when it recovers.

  1. Data Safety

  • Flexible storage mode options are available to meet different preferences and needs. These include options such as Local Storage and Centralized Storage. You can choose your Storage mode options based on your individual priorities. Some of the factors you will need to consider are: reliability, cost effectiveness and/or better redundancy of important video recording backup.

The Unicorn is designed with high transfer capabilities which enable multiple users to check live view or playback of the same camera through only one video channel of bandwidth transmission.

You can divide Admin users into different authority levels through the manager authorization. Admin users also can log out lower-level users to save resources if needed. In addition, admin users can lock users, or set date and time validation of other users through remote operation. This allows a robust management of resources as well as privacy.

Your Video recordings can be watermarked with custom content to prevent prevent unauthorized editing.

Uniview Teleview Network Positioning System

Uniview, one of the world’s leading manufacturer of video surveillance products and solutions, launched its 2MP Lighthunter IR Network Positioning system for vertical and commercial markets. The Teleview series, including IPC7622ER-X44U and IPC7622EL-X55UG, are advanced IP Camera Systems that deploy Univiews Lighthunter Technology to benefit industrial, commercial and urban applications. The Teleview Series Positioning Systems solve a number of problems that are characteristic of applications that involve monitoring large areas, Perimeter Control and Extreme environments. With IP67 Weatherproof Protection and a temperature range of -40 to +158 degrees, these IP Cameras are built to withstand a variety of harsh conditions.

Long Distance Monitoring & Vast View

The Teleview positioning system is vertical market product, which represents the top manufacturing ability, brought to you by Uniview. The cameras feature up to 55x optical zoom lens and smart laser IR. This allows the Cameras to see farther, and capture high quality images whether it is day or night. Meanwhile, the positioning system structure is designed to support a large vertical tilt angle from -90° to 45°, ensuring a vast panorama and incredible view. The motorized zoom lens allows for extreme zoom and auto focus.

Stable and Reliable

With the thickened aluminum alloy material, the large-sized base of Teleview positioning system enables high stability when affixed to the mounting surface. Meanwhile, the built-in gyroscope significantly helps reduce vibration and shaking of the Teleview System during outdoor high wind. The purpose of these designs is to guarantee the stability of the product and excellent image, especially in long range applications.

Easy to maintain, Easy to use

The Lighthunter Teleview Positioning system satisfies vertical market demand for reliability. Certainly, in a high importance video surveillance application you would expect advanced features. The Uniview Network Positioning System has built in self-monitoring tools to assist with camera maintenance and alert the user to fluctuation conditions. It detects abnormal voltage such as over-voltage or under-voltage, and triggers an alarm. Meanwhile, if a sudden power failure occurs, the positioning system would trigger self-locking automatically. This would involve physically locking itself to prevent sudden head down or damage the lens or components.

With the smart wiper, Teleview positioning system can clean itself automatically whenever in need. There are 7 alarm inputs and 2 alarm outputs available, so if your project involves multiple alarm devices, the Uniview Network Positioning System is up to the task. The Cameras are also embedded with gradienter to ensure the horizontal position during installation.

With its high-quality large magnification, vast angle of view, excellent stability and reliability, the professional Teleview positioning system can be applied to special scene applications. Commercial uses include borders, ports, urban roads, airports, and large industrial environments.

LightHunter Technology

The main goal of video surveillance is to see clearly anytime and anywhere. Security Cameras need to be well prepared to provide high-resolution, and color images in a multitude of different light conditions. The LightHunter Technology is an innovative technology that delivers vivid color, appropriate brightness, and extremely clear images in ultra-low light. LightHunter Technology significantly improves the image brightness with F1.2 Large Iris design and a BSI sensor.

Challenges & Solution

In low-light environments, standard IR technology can achieve high-resolution, while it may lose color information and the images are black and white. The Lighthunter technology provides superior color-related information unable to be achieved with conventional cameras. More effective information about vehicles and suspects, such as the plate number, color, and brand of a vehicle; facial features, hair color, height and clothing color of a suspect may be usefully offered to law enforcement or other people in need.

Committed to solving this problem, UNV devoted significant resources to the research and development of this new ultra-low light technology. Now, LightHunter technology is available and provides unmatched detail, brightness, and realistic color, along with clear images in the ultra-low light.

BSI Sensor and High Transmittance Lens

The BSI Sony Sensor improves light utilization many times that of ordinary sensors. In addition, Lighthunter employs a High Transmittance Lens for LUX Levels of 0.0005.

U-ISP Technology

In addition, the UNV new-generation algorithm (U-ISP) has many advantages, such as reducing blur and noise, and increasing sharpness. All of these advantages improve the definition and brightness of images. As shown in the following figure, a criminal is stealing a wallet from the car. The normal IPC’s image is full of snowflakes. The most obvious difference compared to the normal IPC’s image, is that we see clearer and more colorful images and obtain more detailed information by the LightHunter IPC. The detailed information, such as facial features, clothing color, and plate number is easily identifiable by law enforcement.

The advantage of using an NVR with Dual NICs

NVR with Dual NICs

What’s a ‘Dual NIC’?

We have been asked about using an NVR with Dual NICs (Network Interface Cards) and why some NVRs have them. To understand the advantages of a NVR with a Dual NIC, we should first understand exactly what ‘Dual NIC’ means. Essentially, a Dual NIC means that an NVR has (2) Network Interfaces or Ethernet Ports. Most NVR recorders only have one ethernet port for connection to your network. So you may ask, “How do you use Dual Ethernet Ports on an NVR?”

Well, we will get into the advantages, but we want to mention that just because your NVR has a Dual NIC does not mean that you have to use both ports. You can use the NVR just as you would an NVR with one port, by plugging into Port #1. In addition, remember that if you do decide to use both ports (to accomplish one of the advantages below) both NIC ports can NOT be on the same gateway/subnet. This will result in neither port being able to work.

Dual NIC NVR

What are the advantages of using a Dual NIC on my NVR?

There are 3 main advantages to using the Dual NIC feature on your NVR. Essentially, they are:

  1. Multi Address
  2. Fault Tolerance
  3. Load Balance

We will explain the benefits below in order to bring some insight as to whether a Dual NIC NVR can be useful in your next application.

Multi Address

First, lets talk about the Multi Address and what that means. Multi Address allows for the implementation of two different gateways, or IPs on your NVR. This would allow your NVR to be on your main network, or port #1, while your IP Cameras are on a separate network, or port#2, using a switch or PoE switch. Let’s say that your IP Camera System consists of 30-40 cameras or more. Using the Multi Address would be especially beneficial since it would allow your cameras to be on a separate network so you don’t have 40 cameras bogging down your main network. Keep in mind, the cameras will be on a separate subnet or gateway, but can be accessed manually over the main network. The two networks must be configured using different gateways in order to work properly and avoid conflicts.

Fault Tolerance (Net Fault Tolerance)

A second advantage or benefit of using an NVR with Dual NICs is called Fault Tolerance. Fault Tolerance allows for your NVR’s NICs to be configured in a redundant state. In other words, your NVR can be connected to two different switches on your network, so if one fails, the NVR will automatically pop over to the secondary switch and remain operational. This creates a safeguard or redundancy for your data. Fault Tolerance can be a great benefit for applications that require more redundancy, or when the NVR must remain on the network at all times. In applications that require constant remote monitoring, this feature can offer a great benefit to your client.

Dual NIC NVR

Load Balance

That brings us to the third main advantage of using an NVR with Dual NICs, which is Load Balance. You can probably ascertain from the terminology, where we are going with this one. Again, this feature is especially beneficial in large applications with 50 or more IP Cameras. Load Balance allows for both NIC ports to ‘share’ the load of video data on your system. The result is that ‘lagging’ or ‘skipping’ on video from the cameras is greatly reduced. Large Security Camera installations can use a lot of bandwidth and Load Balance can help deal with the challenge. The are a few different options when using a Dual NIC for Load Balance with your IP System. Your specific application will determine the configuration that best meets your requirements.

Universal Block Storage (UBS) incorporated in Uniview NVR’s

UBS Technology from Uniview (Universal Block Storage)

Uniview has been a leader in surveillance technology since IP Cameras were first introduced. Since then, the company has continued to dedicate large resources to developing new technology to serve the surveillance industry. One of UNV’s many innovations is their UBS Technology that is incorporated in their NVR Recorders. UBS, or Universal Block Storage was developed by Uniview to help solve some of the issues presented by modern video data recording requirements, as well as dealing with efficiency.

Uniview UBS

What is UBS?

A critical job/feature for video surveillance systems is to ensure the video data recordings keep all necessary information. The current trend in Video Surveillance is to increase the date range for recording and to have enhanced volume. Unfortunately, this can threaten the efficiency and reliability of the data.

To solve this problem, Uniview has developed an innovative technology—Universal Block Storage (UBS) which ensures the safety of data while enhancing efficiency.

Unlike traditional file recording methods (packing video data into common file systems like FAT or NTFS and then writing it to hard disk) the Uniview UBS solution directly divides and maps the video data into a hard disk data block, which forms the minimum data unit onto a hard disk.

Benefits of Universal Block Storage:

Higher I/O Efficiency:
By using UBS technology, a higher writing efficiency can be realized. This is because of the reduction of file packing and the rewriting process, plus the ability to directly write to a hard disk. All this reduces the virtualization as well as the data processing layer.

Secured Data:
In common file systems, data is not secure because the video is packed with a common file format. To remedy this, UBS technology has adopted a private algorithm to do all of the data mapping, thus assuring there is no way to directly view video data from the hard disk.

Data Anti-theft and Accurate Playback Retrieval:
Due to the minimum size of data block and higher I/O efficiency, UBS is able to retrieve recording data which contains less than 1 second of video. The playback retrieval can narrow down to a time scale of less than 1 second. This provides accuracy in finding the exact playback data required.

In a common file recording system, if there is a sudden power outage when the recording is not packed into one complete file, the data will be totally lost from the Flash (which may contain a few seconds of video). Using UBS technology, a sudden power outage will not affect the recording. This is because all the video data has already been mapped and written onto hard disk.
